READINGS ABOUT MEMORIES
Those we love remain with us
Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on.
And cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone... Those we love can never be more than a thought apart.
For as long as there is memory they'll live on in your heart.
Although you cannot see me now
Although you cannot see me I am not far away.
I'm in your mind and memories today and every day. So dry your eyes and weep no more,
treasure what we had before,
smile when you remember the times we had,
try not to feel lonely or sad.
Life will go on without me,
that's how it's meant to be,
so make the most of it my family
for life is short you see.
Let my love be your strength and anchor
each and every day,
to help you through this journey
that you take, come what may.
Be glad for the time spent together,
the love that we shared through the years,
be happy now my family,
And wipe away those tears.
When I am dead by Christina Rossetti
When I am dead, my dearest, sing no sad songs for me;
Plant thou no roses at my head, Nor shady cypress tree:
Be the green grass above me with showers and dewdrops wet;
And if thou wilt, remember,
and if thou wilt, forget.
I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not feel the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale sing on,
as if in pain;
and dreaming through the twilight
that doth not rise nor set,
haply I may remember, And haply may forget.
Feel no guilt in laughter (He/she)
Feel no guilt in laughter, he knows how much you care.
Feel no sorrow in a smile that he's not here to share.
You cannot grieve forever, he wouldn't want you to.
He'd hope that you can carry on, the way you always do.
So talk about the good times, and the ways you showed you cared. The days you spent together, all the happiness you shared.
For if you keep these moments, you will never be apart. And he will live forever locked safe within your heart.
Afterglow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways,
of laughing times and happy times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun
of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
A friend is someone we turn to
A Friend is someone we turn to when our spirits need a lift.
A friend is someone we treasure for our friendship is a gift.
A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy and grace. And makes the whole world we live in a better happier place.
READINGS ABOUT MOVING ON
Miss me but let me go
Miss me - but let me go.
When I come to the end of the road
and the sun has set for me,
I want no tears in a gloom-filled room,
why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little but not too long
and not with your head bowed low, remember the love we have always shared, miss me - but let me go.
For this journey we all must take
and each must go alone,
It is all part of the natural plan,
A step on the road to home.
If I should go by Joyce Grenfell
If I should go before the rest of you,
break not a flower nor inscribe a stone.
Nor when I'm gone speak in a Sunday voice, but be the usual selves that I have known. Weep if you must, parting is hell,
but life goes on, so sing as well.
When death walks by (He/She)
When death walks by with quiet tread,
to touch a loved one who’s then led away from sleep, away from pain, to wake in joy to live again.
You’ll hear him in a whispered breeze,
a calling bird; in swaying trees.
Do not weep long, but lift your eyes,
you’ll see his glory in the skies.
He’ll be there in swallows flight,
his eyes in stars on a velvet night.
His courage strong in every tree,
his name carved well, for eternity. Hide not your love within your heart, for he will always be a part
of you and everything you do,
his death is nought, when love is true.
Do not stand at my grave and weep
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am with you still – I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush,
I am the uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not think of me as gone -
I am with you still – in each new dawn.
She is gone (He/She) by David Harkins
You can shed tears that she is gone,
or you can smile because she has lived.
You can close your eyes and pray that she’ll come back,
or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her,
or you can be full of the love you shared.
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember her and only that she has gone,
or you can cherish her memory and let it live on.
You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back, or you can do what she’d want:
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on.
READINGS ABOUT GRIEVING
Stop the clocks by W.H Auden (he/she)
Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone. Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
Let the aeroplanes circling moaning overhead scribbling on the sky the message 'He is dead',
put crepe bows round the necks of the public doves, let the traffic policeman wear black cotton gloves. He was my north, my south, my east, my west,
my working week and my Sunday rest,
my noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;
I thought that love would last forever; I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now, put out every one; pack up the moon and dismantle the sun;
pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood;
for nothing now can come to any good.
Death is Nothing at all by Canon Henry Scott Holland
Death is Nothing at all I have slipped away into the next room. I am I and you are you... Whatever we were to each other, that we are still. Call me by my old familiar name; speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone; wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effort, without the ghost of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is absolutely unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind simply because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner...All is well.
Don’t think of him as gone away (He/she) by Ellen Brenneman
Don’t think of him as gone away –
his journey’s just begun;
life holds so many facets –
this earth is only one.
Just think of him as resting
from the sorrows and the tears
in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years. Think how he must be wishing
that we could know, today, how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.
And think of him as living
in the hearts of those he touched... for nothing loved is ever lost –
and he was loved so much
Remembering you is easy
The moment that you died, my heart was torn in two
one side filled with heartache The other dies with you.
I often lie awake at night when the world is fast asleep,
and take a walk down memory lane, with tears upon my cheeks. Remembering you is easy, I do it every day,
but missing you is heartache that never goes away.
I hold you tightly within my heart and there you will remain. Until the day arrives, That we will meet again.
READINGS TO A SPOUSE/PARTNER
My precious love by Clare Corner
My precious love, don't mourn for me, or fill your life with pain,
for I can see and hear and touch
and laugh and love again.
I see my photo in it's frame, on table, by my chair,
I watch you hold it in your arms and cry 'cos I'm not there.
I am real, as real as you I haven't gone astray,
I've just slipped through God's veil of love a moments thought away. I bless your life my darling love, and hold you constantly,
I've asked God's help to stem the tears you're shedding still for me. So call my name out loud, my love, please talk to me again,
and know that I am always here, companion - lover - friend.
Remember me by Lynn New
Remember me. No pain beyond, no tears, no fear. No thought of death for I’m still near.
No hugs I know, nor sweet caress,
but I’m still close to love and bless.
No quiet word, nor gentle touch,
but don’t despair – I love you much.
No gesture kind to show I care; the veils drawn, but I’m still there. Grieve not too long – but look around,
in earthly things I shall be found.
A falling leaf, a growing tree, in every breeze you will feel me.
I walk in life; death holds no pain. Be reassured,
we’ll meet again.
Don’t cry for me my darling (wife/husband)
Don’t cry for me darling, don’t ever weep. I’ve been so ill, I’ll be glad to sleep
I have fought hard and not all in vain
I know in your heart I will live again. Think of the happiness that once we had.
Don’t be gloomy and don’t be sad
The pain and the sorrow we surely pass
Be happy my darling, that’s all I ask.
You are my wife and my best friend indeed.
A friend to me when I was in need.
As you grow older, and the years slip by,
We will still be together, you and I.
We’ll talk of the past and the joy we had,
We’ll tell of the good things and the bad
So whatever may happen, whatever may be, You know that you’ll always have a friend in me.
A thousands tomorrows
A thousand tomorrow’s would I give, if only God had let you live. I seldom ask for miracles and only one would do,
to have my door wide open to see you walk right through.
I put my arms around you, kiss your smiling face,
for you were someone special, that no-one can replace.
READINGS TO DAD/MUM (GRANDPARENT)
The Broken Chain
We little knew that morning
That God was going to call your name,
In life we loved you dearly
In death we do the same
It broke our hearts to lose you
You did not go alone
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
You left us precious memories, Your love is still our guide And though we cannot see you, your always by your side. Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same But God calls us one by one, The chain will link again.
The sadness that you feel today (Mum/Dad)
The sadness that you feel today is understood so well,
you’ve lost a loving Dad who meant much more than words can tell...
It must seem that your world has stopped and life is grey and sad, but he would want you looking back on happy times you’ve had. He’d tell you to remember him and talk about him, too,
in warm and easy kinds of ways that keep him near to you...
He’d say that he was proud of you and in the years ahead,
you’ll think of all those yesterdays and smile for him instead.
I thought you’d never leave by Caroline Putt aged 12
I thought you'd never leave me, I thought you'd never go.
But now you have my Grandma, I just want to let you know,
you were always there for me, you've never let me down,
every time I asked for your help you'd always be around.
The angels came and took you, and if that's where you have to be, Lord please look after her, she means the world to me.
God took the strength (Dad)
God took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree, the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of a quiet sea, t
he generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night, the wisdom of the ages, the power of the eagle's flight,
the joy of a morning in spring, the faith of ma mustard seed,
the patience of eternity, the depth of a family need,
then God combined these qualities, when there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete, and so, He called it...Dad.
Of all the days (Mum)
Of all the days throughout your life the saddest one has come, for life will never be the same without your loving mum.
And though your heart is breaking, and it will for quite a while, remember all the love she gave, the radiance of her smile.
A mother's love provides the rock you build your life upon, it stays with you forever and it helps you carry on.
Our Father kept a garden (Father/Mother)
Our father kept a garden, A garden of the heart
He planted all the good things, That gave our lives a start.
He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream: Fostering and nurturing The seeds of self-esteem.
And when the winds and rain came, He protected us enough
But not too much because he knew We would stand up strong and tough
His constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong Markers for our pathway that will last a lifetime long
We are our Father’s garden, We are his legacy
And I hope today he feels the love
Reflected back from me.
READINGS AFTER ILLNESS
God’s garden must be beautiful
God looked around his garden, and found an empty place,
he then looked down upon the earth, and saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you, and lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
(He didn’t want you to suffer, or cause you further pain,
he knew that you would never get well on this earth again.*) *Sometimes omitted
He saw the road was getting rough, and the hills were hard to climb, so he closed your weary eye lids, and whispered 'Peace be Thine', It's broke our hearts to lose you, but you haven't gone alone,
for part of us is with you, now that God has called you home.
If tomorrow starts without me
If tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see,
if the sun shall rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me;
I know how much you care for me, and how much I care for you, and each time that you think of me I’ll know you’ll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above,
and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love.
But if tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart,
for every time you think of me, please know I’m in your heart.
God saw you getting tired
God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be,
so he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.” With tearful eyes we watched you, and saw you pass away, and although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A Golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.
God took him to His loving home (Him/Her)
God saw him getting tired;
a cure was not to be.
He wrapped him in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me.’
He suffered much in silence,
his spirit did not bend.
He faced his pain with courage, until the very end.
He tried so hard to stay with us but his fight was not in vain,
God took him to His loving home and freed him from the pain.
I am free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following in the path laid down for me.
I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savoured much,
good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee,
I love you all, but I am now free.
Dementia Prayer
Please grant my loved ones tolerance for my confusion, Forgiveness for my irrationality and the strength
they had to walk with me into the mist of memory
my world had become.
Thank them for taking my hand even though I seemed unaware of their presence.
Help them to know how their strength
and loving care did drift slowly into the days that came just when I needed it most.
Let them know when I didn’t recognise them, that it wasn’t my fault and I still loved them.
Keep their hearts free from sorrow for me, for my sorrow, when it came,
only lasted a moment, then it was gone. And finally, please let them know,
how very much their visits meant,
how even through this relentless mystery, I still felt their love.
Alzheimers / Dementia Poem
You didn't die just recently,
You died some time ago.
Although your body stayed a while, And didn't really know.
For you had got Alzheimers/Dementia, You failed to comprehend.
Your body went on living,
But your mind had reached its end. So we've already said, "Goodbye",
To the person that we knew.
The person that we truly loved,
The person that was, "You".
And so we meet again today,
To celebrate your body`s end.
For it was true and faithful,
Right up until the end.
And so, when we remember,
We'll think of all the rest.
We'll concentrate on earlier,
And remember all the best.
For in the real grand scheme of things, Your illness wasn't long.
Compared to all the happiness,
You brought your whole life long.
We think of you as yesterday,
When you were fit and well.
And when we're asked about you,
It's those things that we will tell.
So today we meet in remembrance,
Of a mind so fit and true.
We're here to pay our last respects,
To say that, "We love you".
Funny Why Worry?
Why worry?
There are only two things to worry about
Either you are well or you are sick
If you are well; there is nothing to worry about
But if you are sick;
There are two things to worry about
Either you will get well or you will die
If you get well, there is nothing to worry about
If you die there are only two things to worry about
Either you will go to heaven or to hell
If you go to heaven, there is nothing to worry about
But if you go to hell, you will be so busy shaking hands with friends, You won’t have time to worry.
Readings about GARDENING
A garden of asters by Helen Steiner Rice
A garden of asters of varying hues, crimson-pinks and violet-blues, blossoming in the hazy fall wrapped in Autumn's lazy pall - But early frost stole in one night and like a chilling, killing blight
It touched each pretty asters head and now the garden's still and dead. And all the lovely flowers that bloomed
will soon be buried and entombed
in Winter's icy shroud of snow
but oh, how wonderful to know
That after Winter comes the Spring
to breathe new life in everything,
and all the flowers that fell in death
will be awakened by Spring's breath -
for in God's Plan both people and flowers can only reach 'bright shining hours'
by dying first to rise in glory
and prove again the Easter story.
The rose beyond the wall
A rose once grew where all could see,
sheltered beside a garden wall.
And, as the days passed swiftly by,
it spread its branches, straight and tall.
One day, a beam of light shone through a crevice
that had opened wide.
The rose bent gently towards its warmth then
passed beyond to the other side.
Now, you who deeply feel its loss, be comforted,
the rose blooms there.
It's beauty even greater now, nurtured by God's own loving care.
Reading for a DRINKER
Last Orders
When the bell rings for last orders
Please don’t panic or get vexed
It’s simply time to sup this world’s last drink Before ordering your first in the next
It’s always opening time in heaven
And the alcohol doesn’t go to your head
It tastes so much more special
And fortifies your spirit instead
“The Traveler’s Rest” always welcomes departed drinkers With a warm smile and a kindly nod
You’ll never have to put your hand in your pocket again Because this really is a free house, thank god
Reading for a FISHERMAN
Fisherman’s Prayer
Lord,
I pray that I may live to fish... Until my dying day.
And when it comes to
my last cast,
I then most humbly pray: When in the Lord's
great landing net
And peacefully asleep
That in His mercy I be judged As good enough to keep.
Readings for SAILORS
Psalm 23 for Seafarers 'The Pilot Psalm'
The Lord is my Pilot; I shall not drift. He lights me across the dark waters; He steers me in deep channels,
He keeps my log. He guides me by the star of holiness for His Name's sake. Even though I sail mid the thunders and tempests of life, I will dread no danger; for You are near me; Your love and Your care, they shelter me; You prepare a harbour before me in the homeland of eternity: You anoint the waves with oil; my ship rides calmly. Surely sunlight and starlight shall favour me on the voyage I take: And I will rest in the port of my God for ever
Crossing the bar by Alfred Lord Tennyson
Sunset and evening star, and one clear call for me! And there will be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea.
But such tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sounds and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep turn again home. Twilight and evening bell, and after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For though fro out our bourne of time and place,
the flood may bear me far,
I hope I see my pilot face to face
when I have crossed the bar.
The Unknown Shore by Elizabeth Clark Hardy
Sometime at Eve when the tide is low
I shall slip my moorings and sail away
With no response to a friendly hail
In the silent hush of the twilight pale
When the night stoops down to embrace the day And the voices call in the water's flow
Sometime at Eve When the water is low
I shall slip my moorings and sail away. Through purple shadows
That darkly trail o'er the ebbing tide And the Unknown Sea,
And a ripple of waters' to tell the tale Of a lonely voyager sailing away
To mystic isles
Where at anchor lay
The craft of those who had sailed before O'er the Unknown Sea
To the Unknown Shore
A few who watched me sail away
Will miss my craft from the busy bay
Some friendly barques were anchored near Some loving souls my heart held dear
In silent sorrow will drop a tear
But I shall have peacefully furled my sail
In mooring sheltered from the storm and gale And greeted friends who had sailed before O'er the Unknown Sea
To the Unknown Shore
RELIGIOUS READINGS
Prayer of St Francis of Assisi
Lord, make me a channel of your peace
that where there is hatred I may bring love
and where there is wrong, forgiveness:
where there is discord, I may bring harmony
and where there is error, truth;
where there is doubt I may bring faith
and where there is despair, hope;
where there are shadows I may bring light
and where there is sadness, joy.
Lord, grant that I may seek
rather to comfort than to be comforted;
to understand rather than to be understood;
to love than be loved.
Teach me, O Lord, that it is by giving that I will receive; by self-forgetting that I find myself;
by forgiving that I will be forgiven;
that in dying I will awaken to eternal life,
there to live with thee and thine for evermore.
Amen.
God be in my head
God be in my head and in my understanding. God be in my eyes, and in my looking; God be in my mouth and in my speaking; God be in my heart, and in my thinking: God be at my end, and at my departing.
Old Gaelic Blessing
May the road rise to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall softly upon your fields until we meet again. May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.
Footprints
One night a man had a dream. He dreamt he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most difficult times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me". The Lord replied, "My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you”.
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
READINGS WITH MORAL MEANING
Desiderata by Max Ehrmann
Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly, and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself to others you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself, especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture the strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no, less than the trees and the stars: you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be; and whatever your labours and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its shams, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful. Strive to be happy
Time is... by Henry Van Dyke
Time is.. Too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice; tut for those who love, time is eternity.
Spare a little time
Spare a little time for living. Look around and see.
Spare a little time for giving happiness to somebody.
Spare a little time for sowing seeds of friendship on the way. Though you cannot see where you are going, sow the seeds -
you'll pick the flowers some day.
Spare a little time for making someone's world a better place.
Spare a little time for taking that worried look from someone's face. Take a little time for mending broken things in moments here and there.
Life offers you a chance of spending the moment that you could not spare.
Not how did he die
Not, how did he die, but how did he live?
Not, what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth of a man as a man regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, regardless of creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer.
to bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what the sketch in the newspaper say
but how many were sorry when he passed away?
Readings for loss of a child
Our dear child by Barry Cahill
Our dear child you had to go
The reason why, we do not know.
We’re gathered here to send you home
And to say we love and miss you so.
Our dear child, what can we say?
Only how we wish you didn’t have to go away.
You’re now in God’s loving arms and at peace.
Our dear child, you will always be in our hearts for keeps. Rest in peace, and sleep, our dear child.
I am not gone by Barry Cahill
I am not gone, I am not far,
For I am in the sky. I’m the brightest star.
I’ll always be with you whether you’re near or far.
You are my Mummy and Daddy no-one can tear us apart
for I will always be in your heart.
When you feel lonely and sad remember you’ll always by my Dad. Not forgetting the woman who nurtured me, yes, my Mummy, she also loves me.
READINGS ABOUT BEING REUNITED WITH LOVED ONES
The ship by Bishop Brent
You are standing upon a shore... somewhere. A ship before you spreads her white sails and starts for the blue ocean. She is a strong ship and you watch her until she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other. Then someone at your side says, "There she's gone." Gone where? From your sight - that's all. She is just as large in mast and spar as when she left your shore, just as strong and able. Her diminished size is in you, not in her, and while someone at your side is saying, "She's gone..." there are other eyes watching her coming and ready to take up the glad shout, "There she comes." And that is dying.
Letter from heaven
To all my dearest family, some things I'd like to say,
but first of all to let you know that I arrived okay!
I'm writing this from heaven, where I dwell with God above, where there's no more tears or sadness, there is just eternal love. Please don't be unhappy just because I'm out of sight,
remember that I'm with you every morning noon and night.
I will be beside you every day and week and year,
and when you're sad, I'm standing there to wipe away each tear. So do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain –
remember there would be no flowers unless there were some rain. It was always my philosophy – and I'd like it for you too –
that as you give unto the world so the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow or in pain,
then you can say to God at night “My day was not in vain.”
And now I am contented that my life was made worthwhile, knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile.
So if you need somebody who is down and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick them up as on the way you go.
And when it's time for you to go, from that body to be free, remember you're not going, you're coming here to me.
Christmas time bring memories
Christmas time brings memories of times when you were there.
Of precious times and happy times the love that you would share.
We open the gift that was your life mixed with joy and tears
We share with fondness all the love you shared throughout the years. We bring out your cherished pictures your carol we sing out
we set the table with the food you loved and then with a fond shout....
We wish you Merry Christmas
while thinking you should be here
but truth be told your in our hearts you are always very near.
The Bridge of Dreams
Miles may lie between us, but we have our bridge of dreams And when the day is ended and the lamplight softly gleams We go to greet each other with an outstretched hand
For a moment re-united and the distance spanned.
Deep the sea and wide the land and tho’ we’re far apart Many are the sweet consolations of the heart
Memories and recollections, treasured souvenirs,
Tender words and sweet affects, cherished through the years My days are filled with duties and the tasks life sets for me No time is there for grieving and the idle reverie
But when the house is dark and still we keep our rendezvous In the silent I go forth to keep my tryst with you.
Distance has no meaning if our love is true and deep
I am with you darling when I wake and when I sleep. Northing can divide us dear, though clear the future seems, For every night you come to me, across the bridge of dreams
Merry Christmas from Heaven
Throughout the Christmas season Don’t fall into despair, Relive the special times we shared, I promise i’ll be there. You’ll find me in the stories Of loved ones who stop by
I am the flickering candlelight, My spirit did not die Continue with traditions, And gather round the tree
I want you to be happy, You were everything to me!
So fill the house with laughter, And know the I’m a part Of all the joy the season brings. Here always in your heart I love you all so dearly, Now please don’t shed a tear Cause i’m also spending Christmas
With Jesus this year.
